Written From Jobs, Not From a Brochure
Most of what gets written about home EV charging is either a manufacturer brochure or an argument between strangers on a forum, and neither helps much when you are standing in front of your own panel. This is where we write down the explanations we end up giving on the phone: what a load calculation actually measures, why a 48-amp charger needs a 60-amp breaker, what the City of Carmel inspector is looking at, and why a circuit that behaved all summer starts tripping in January. Everything here comes out of jobs done in Carmel and across Hamilton County, so the examples are local rather than generic.
